Garlic & Herb Crostini Spread (Printable Version)

Creamy whipped butter blended with roasted garlic and fresh herbs for an elegant bread spread.

# What You'll Need:

→ Dairy

01 - 1 cup (2 sticks or 225 g) unsalted butter, at room temperature

→ Aromatics

02 - 1 whole garlic bulb
03 - 1 tbsp olive oil

→ Fresh Herbs

04 - 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
05 - 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh chives
06 - 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh basil or tarragon

→ Seasonings

07 - ½ tsp fine sea salt, plus more to taste
08 - ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

→ Optional Serving Suggestion

09 - 1 baguette or crostini, sliced and toasted

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Slice the top off the garlic bulb to expose the cloves, drizzle with olive oil, and wrap tightly in foil. Place on a baking sheet and roast for 35–40 minutes until the cloves are soft and golden. Let cool slightly before handling.
02 - Squeeze the roasted garlic cloves from their skins directly into a mixing bowl. Mash thoroughly with a fork until a smooth paste forms.
03 - Add the softened butter to the bowl. Using a hand mixer or sturdy wooden spoon, whip until the mixture becomes light, fluffy, and well incorporated.
04 - Fold in the chopped parsley, chives, basil or tarragon, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly distributed throughout the butter.
05 - Taste the spread and adjust with additional salt or pepper if needed to achieve desired flavor balance.
06 - Transfer the finished spread to a decorative serving bowl or individual ramekins. Present alongside warm, toasted crostini or baguette slices for immediate enjoyment.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It turns five minutes of active work into something that tastes like you spent all day in the kitchen
  • The roasted garlic adds a subtle sweetness that balances perfectly with fresh herbs
  • Keep a log of this in your fridge and suddenly every meal feels like a dinner party
02 -
  • Letting the butter soften completely at room temperature prevents grainy texture and makes whipping effortless
  • Squeezing the garlic while still warm helps it incorporate more smoothly into the butter
  • This spread actually tastes better after sitting for a few hours, so make it ahead if you can
03 -
  • Buy extra garlic bulbs and roast them simultaneously since the roasted cloves freeze beautifully for future batches
  • Use a microplane to zest citrus directly into the butter for even distribution of flavor
